From the East

I hope that everyone has had a restful and fine summer and that everyone is ready for a fruitful fall.  Let us renew our commitments to come to lodge meetings and degree work as well as contacting those who may need a ride.  If you are a brother who needs a ride to a meeting, don't hesitate to contact me.

Starting in October we are going to have light dinners before the business meetings starting at 6:30 PM.  Please come to the scheduled meetings and degree work as your presence and voice and input are appreciated and listened to.  We are going to be covering some important topics such as the need for more revenue to cover the increased expenses.

For those of you who use Facebook, please ”like” us so as to keep apprised of events.  All degree practices are at 7:00 PM.

From the Secretary’s Desk

I do hope that you have an enjoyable summer.  I know that many members have met with prospective candidates for the lodge.  I did just this past week and he certainly has done a lot of research on the Masonic Fraternity.  I find that it is important to try and meet with them at the Masonic Temple and give them a short tour and then answer any questions that they might have.  Brochures are usually available in the hall next to the desk for you to hand out.

I am sorry to have to report the death of three Brethren since we met in June;  Brother Ralph Claxton, Brother Steve Damon and Brother Jan Smith.  Unity Lodge was asked to participate with Brother Damon’s service.  Donations have been sent from the lodge to charities in memory of these Brethren.  Sympathy cards were also sent to their widows and families.

I just would like to take a moment to remind you that if you haven’t done so already, please take the time to let your loved ones know what you would like at the time of your death.  Many families do not realize that a Masonic service could be conducted.  I would suggest that you not only let them know but also have it written out so they understand.

See you in lodge.
