Greetings from the East

Greetings from the East Brethren,

Last month, Worshipful Br. Wilcox hosted Unity Lodge's first “Masonic Education” session.  The topic that he presented was centered on the Entered Apprentice degree and its meaning.  We had a good showing and the brethren in attendance had interesting questions that initiated more discussion.  Masonic Education sessions will be scheduled the third Wednesday of every month.  I encourage you to present and share a Masonic subject of your choice.   Sharing knowledge and research is also what we are all about and, in my opinion, is a must.   The next installment is planned for May 16th and will be hosted and presented by our SW, Br. Bailey.   On another note, JW Noorlander is working toward meeting all the requirements for the Master Builder's Program for which we still have a lot of work to do before the end of the year.  He will provide an update in due time.

Last but not least, this month is going to be a very busy month!  We have the Masonic Temple Open House on May 5th.  Brethren, we need all the help we can for this annual event.  The Grand Lodge Visitation is scheduled May 19th starting at 1:00 pm with the Regional Leadership Conference for elected and appointed officers starting at 9:00 am., lunch for all Brethren at 12 noon.   The Masonic Family dinner is scheduled for May 30th.  I will provide more details during our business meeting.

A lot is happening.  Participate.  Make suggestions.  Provide feedback.  Our work is endless and to gain more knowledge and making our fraternity even stronger, we need to engage in conversations, discussions and in ways to become better men and be part of the community.  Share your ideas!

Fraternally,

Jean-Marie H. Pijuan
Worshipful Master

The Trestleboard

The chimes are softly striking, Twelve high is the hour they tell
When we call the Craft from their labors, A time to meditate well.

Look into your sanctum sanctorum, That place there beyond your mind
Where on the trestleboard of your soul, Your life has made its design.

Is it really a beautiful picture?  Are its lines and angles all true?
Does it show the life you are living?  Are you proud of the picture you drew?

If you had the chance, would you change it?  By the better deeds to be done,
Through applying the lessons taught you, By the square, the compass, and plumb?

This road we travel, my brother, Is one way, to the east from the west.
Therefore, the designs on your trestleboard, Should never be less than your best.

So when the Supreme Architect greets you, Your trestleboard in his hand,
You can stand there just and upright, As a Mason and as a man

Fraternally,

David W. Barron
PGM – Secretary
