From The East
Brethren, I pray this news letter finds everyone in good health. Unfortunately I won’t be with you for March’s business meeting, I’ll be in New Orleans visiting family and friends as well as celebrating Mardi Gras, I will be with you in spirit though.
For those who haven’t been on the sidelines, we’ve had work and instruction every week but business meeting nights, and I’ve had instruction on those nights. In February we had an MM, an FC, and a double EA, all of which I thought went well, it could always use improvement on my part but overall they’ve looked good. March is looking busy as well; we will have an MM practice on the second week, an EA the third, and the MM degree itself the fourth week. I would like to see more Brethren on the sidelines for the degree work to show support for these brethren.
I would like to thank our SW, Brother Tim Stenner for all of his work on the 99th Anniversary Lodge Dinner at Gray Cliff. We had 45 in attendance and it was a great evening. Thanks to all those that were able to attend.
I would like to bring up a couple of things for everyone to think about and I’ll bring them up in the April business meeting, unless Tim brings them up in March. The first thing is I would like to plan a BBQ for family and friends this summer or fall, preferably in July or August so we’re not completely out of touch when we’re dark. This would be a good time to bring someone who’s been interested but just not sure so we can show them what we’re all about in an informal setting. The second thing I would like to bring up, and I’ve mentioned this to some folks already, is I would like to see some brethren step up and take on the Apron and FC lectures for our Lodge. I plan on being the primary person for the FC lecture next year but until then it is my personal belief that we shouldn’t have to rely on brothers from other Lodges for that lecture and my plate is full enough this year. I also think it would be a good idea to have two or three Brethren proficient in the EA and MM lectures as well, it never hurts to have multiple lecturers, you never know when the primary may not be available at the last minute.
I hope your March is filled with blessings and good will.
