Greetings from the East

Tidings from the East Brethren,

January proved to be a great start for the 2019 Masonic year with Master Mason and Entered Apprentice degrees.  We welcome and congratulate Brother Ronnell Villodres as a new Master Mason and Brother Mike Corbett as our newest Entered Apprentice.  Thank you to all the Brethren who put in the heart and effort to make these experiences lasting memories.  The ritual work that a Lodge performs is of great importance to The Craft as it is the first official and organized impression made on the mind of a man who has decided to take that step and join us on our Masonic Journey. The gravity and beauty of how that ritual is conveyed to the candidate convinces him he has made the right choice and he is a Brother among like-minded Brothers that genuinely care for his wellbeing.  I am very proud of the ritual work we impart in Unity Lodge #18.  I believe that level of proficiency displayed when I was initiated unconsciously solidified my dedication and love of The Craft.

On 30 January, our Br SW Noorlander will present the second part of ‘The Qabalah’ a continuation from the December introduction.  February is lining up to be an active month as well.  We have a new candidate knocking on our door desiring admission and a Brother ready to advance to Fellowcraft.  See the trestle board for the scheduled dates and plan to be part of the gravity and beauty of the ritual.  Our stated business meeting will be on the 6th of February.  Old business topic of discussion will be Lodge business meeting time (7:30pm vs. 7:00pm).  Make your voice heard and cast your vote.  And finally, it seems I can’t let a cosmic event get by without making some sort of reference to it.  Although the cloudy canopy hampered our viewing, there was a Super Blood Wolf Moon last month that I hope you were able to get a glimpse of even if it was only on the internet.  Eclipses, both lunar and solar, are harbingers for change.  According to astrology, lunar eclipses give us a glimpse into the “shadow self.” We all want to think of ourselves as good, kind people, but we’re also human! What we discover about ourselves through introspection gives us the opportunity to embrace our wholeness and see where we have room to grow in new directions.

From the Secretary’s desk

I am sorry to report that Brother George Hall died on Monday, January 21st.  He was the longest living member of Unity Lodge #18. He had been a member since 1951 and had 67 years and two months as a Master Mason.  We extend our sympathy to his family.  Services will be Friday, February 1st at Trinity Presbyterian Church.  Unity Lodge will conduct the Masonic graveside service at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.

Just as a quick reminder, please notify me if you are aware of a Brother hospitalized or not feeling well.  We would like to send a card to the Brother or make visits if he able to have visitors.
